The Building Healthy Communities AmeriCorps Program places full-time mentors in high schools and middle schools in Kern County, CA. AmeriCorps members provide high quality mentoring services to underserved youth in schools. Our goal is to to increase healthy behaviors and high-school graduation rates by engaging youth in building relationships and social skills, academic and behavior support, community service, college and career exploration, and more.
