First Ask

First Ask is a candidate identification and recruitment initiative that aims to close the gender gap in national politics by increasing the number of women running in local and state-level races across the country. We know women are strong and effective leaders, but are rarely encouraged to pursue public office. By empowering women to run in key states, we will fight for equal opportunity and representation in local and state bodies nationwide.

Local politics is a catalyst for national change and a strong bench of diverse, progressive female officials will ensure that change endures. We will work within communities to identify future leaders and representatives. We will provide support and guidance to campaign managers as they navigate the race and make strategic choices.

We want to equip our candidates with the resources to win. Therefore, we will partner with allied organizations, challenge the status quo, resist complacency, and above all -- push for change.
