Sobre Nós

Mission

Heaven Can Wait Animal Society was founded as a nonprofit in 2000 with the goal to eliminate the senseless, unnecessary killing of cats and dogs in Las Vegas area shelters by focusing on the critical need for high-volume low-cost targeted spay and neuter surgeries for companion animals and free roaming cats, as well as providing educational programs and adoption opportunities.

Vision

  • Focus on spay/neuter efforts and target neighborhoods from which a large number of animals enter the system, those with a high number of feral or free roaming cats, and neighborhoods with high-risk dog breeds - to continue to reduce the impound of shelter animals and euthanasia.
  • Create opportunities for dogs to obtain a second and often times a third/fourth chance at a new lease on life.
  • Form local coalitions with other animal welfare groups, animal control agencies, and community leaders
  • Educate target groups to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership.

Our Story

Our founder, Harold Vosko had a dream to stop the senseless killing of dogs and cats in the Las Vegas and surrounding areas when he co- founded Heaven Can Wait Animal Society in 2000. Harold's passing in May, 2019 brought a sadness to our entire team, and community, however, we have so much to celebrate as in 2019 we will recognize a milestone of 150,000 spay and neuter surgeries. Harold loved this organization and our loyal supporters. We continue to fight to save even more lives because dogs and cats are still dying senseless deaths.

Will you help us save even more lives, and honor Harold's dream?  Heaven Can Wait Animal Society has been working diligently towards the goal to eliminate the unnecessary killing of dogs and cats in Las Vegas shelters. We do this by focusing on the critical need for low-cost income-targeted spay and neuter surgeries.

The Las Vegas area has a population of over two million people, and we face the same challenges as other metropolitan cities. Many people live on fixed incomes, and according to the American Veterinary Medical Association an estimated 100,000+ dogs and 150,000+ cats live in the area.
