The vision of Centro de Idiomas/The Language Center is to create lasting social change by integrating intercambio—exchange—in the education and experiences of North American participants, Nicaraguan students, and their teachers. The founders of the Center are committed to an intercambio where participants and students begin dialogue and have the potential to affect the way that both individuals and nations communicate across differences and cultures. The Center’s vision recognizes the prevalence of global conflict and deepening inequality, and reflects the need for expression that articulates both a shared humanity and interconnection in a globalizing world.
