The Deputy Director of Development will work closely with their team director to lead new program development and strategy, and ensure effective program coordination, monitoring and evaluation, quality assurance and accountability in close collaboration with the advocacy and fundraising teams. The essential goal of the role is to ensure that the advocacy IWI provides is effectively reaching women and girls in need of support.
- In coordination with the team director and other counterparts, lead assist in the identification of new initiatives and opportunities that respond to identified needs and the strategy;
- Plan and lead assessments to better understand needs for program design and to further develop IWI’s strategy;
- Conduct analyses to determine humanitarian/development gaps and how IWI should position itself to best serve the needs of beneficiaries;
- Lead the development of solicited and unsolicited proposals and concept notes;
- Represent IWI and increasingly play a lead role in other advocacy and coordination bodies;
- Coordinate with other NGOs to consolidate IWI's strategic niche and comparative advantages, while identifying strategic partnerships;
- Ensure that program implementation is responsive to communities and partners and aligned with IWI's principles, values and strategic roadmap and strategy;
- Work with director to monitor partner's adherence to grant agreements, IWI's policies and procedures and relevant external rules and regulations;
- Conduct her/himself professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to IWI and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum academic qualification: undergraduate degree in law, international development, human rights or a similar social science field;
- Experience in conducting research, and writing reports for a variety of audiences on human rights issues relating to women’s rights, especially in the context of crises;
- Fluent in English;
- Outreach experience within a Charity/ NGO setting a plus;
- Passionate for women’s human rights and gender equality;
- Attention to detail and ability to work within strict, often conflicting, deadlines;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Able to provide a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week.
