SoulPhamm is looking for EXPERIENCED current/former Dancers or Cheerleaders to serve as part of the judging panel for our 2025-2026 season tryouts that will be held on Saturday, June 21st from 11:30am to 1:30pm in Downtown Newark. We would also love to have someone experienced with hip-hop dance to teach a quick 8-16 count to the tryout candidates.
Our teams serve young ladies from ages 12-25. We will have both current and new candidates trying out for both teams. The role of the judging panel will be to help us determine whether the candidates should be put on our Elite squad (usually advanced athletes) or our Elevation squad (usually beginning/novice).
We spend every season emphasizing technique and stage presence to our young ladies and consistently try to push them to their next level. These are young ladies who typically have no formal training and no access to arts programming. We are seeking "fresh eyes" who have experience to eliminate any perceived "bias" from our current coaching team and staff. Judges will be given a rubric from which to judge. The judging panel will judge both cheerleaders and majorettes dancers together.
No phone calls please. A quick zoom call will be set up so that judges can meet each other, ask any questions about the day and hear about the candidates.
