    LifeSmart Education is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that enhances the availability of nontraditional educational classes and resources for underserved youth and communities. We help those who need unwavering, positive life management skills. Youth aren't born knowing the life skills that we wish they did; they must be taught and molded into productive members of society.     Why volunteer with LifeSmart Education?

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone to learn and gain valuable experience in financial operations and account and grants management while working with a small nonprofit organization. 

    The Volunteer Accountant position has a minimum 6-month commitment with an expected 5-10 hours per week. 

    Volunteers will earn an endorsement on LinkedIn or a referral letter upon successful completion of their volunteer commitment.

    Role Description

    We are looking for a detail-oriented and dedicated Volunteer Accountant to support our financial operations, including basic account management and grant funding. This role is essential to the effective management of our resources and the success of our programs.

    This is a remote role, offering flexibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact from anywhere.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
    • Track and report on grant expenditures, ensuring funds are used in accordance with grant agreements.
    • Prepare key financial reports as needed.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and organizational policies.

    Qualifications/Skills

    • Previous work experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a non profit setting.
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Previous experience managing grants, including ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
    • CPA preferred.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
