Mobile Food Bank Volunteer with Nourish Pierce County

Feed your neighbors in need as a volunteer with us! As a mobile food bank volunteer, you directly contribute to our mission of providing nutritious food to people in need with compassion, dignity, and respect. Volunteering with Nourish Pierce County is a great way to meet new people, serve an immediate need in the community, and have some fun!

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Greet and welcome food bank clients
• Help load groceries in clients cars
• Help move boxes around and stage for distribution
• Sort and bag fresh produce
• Pack non-perishable grocery boxes
• Assist with food distribution and replenish food bins
• Clean food bank and assist with garbage disposal
• Interact with all volunteers, staff and clients with compassion, dignity, and respect

Skills Necessary:

• Must be physically fit and able to lift at least 20 pounds repeatedly throughout shifts
• Ability to work on your feet for several hours
• Must be able to step up and down from a truck
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Comfortable in a busy environment
• Courtesy and helpfulness are expected
• Closed toe shoes and shirts with sleeves are required
• Good customer service skills and the ability to work in a team are required
