Communications Specialist

As a Communication Specialist at our organization, you will manage and improve all our communications flows, within and outside of our organization. 

In addition, you will be responsible for promoting a positive public image of our organization. If you are an enthusiastic, outgoing, and energetic person, and you love public speaking, we would love to meet with you! 

The United Nations Association - Northern New Jersey Chapter is dedicated to educating, inspiring, and mobilizing Americans to support the principles and vital work of the United Nations and its agencies.

Duties and responsibilities 

• Create effective communication strategies for our organization. 

• Coordinate external and internal communications flow (memos, newsletters etc.). 

• Design sketches of mass media announcement. 

• Write content for the organization website. 

• Plan events, seminars and press conferences. 

• Communicate with media regularly. 

• Manage media inquiries and arrange interviews, statements etc. 

• Build long-term relationships with influencers and key stakeholders. 

• Collaborate with internal team leads and members. 

• Serve as a facilitator and provide solution for peaceful resolution of disputes. 

Requirements and qualifications 

• Previous working experience as communications specialist preferred. 

• Experience and knowledge in copywriting, proofreading and editing. 

• Photo and video-editing skills preferred. 

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. 

• Outstanding organizational and time-management skills. 

• Experience in web design and content production is a big plus. 

• MA in public relations, communications, or similar relevant field preferred. 

• Must understand and uphold the United Nations Association Bipartisan outlook. 

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work with a wide variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives and demonstrated level of inter- cultural competence. 

• Works well in a team environment.
