The Laurel Foundation is committed to improving the lives of children, youth and families affected by HIV/AIDS and transgender/gender diverse youth. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who want to make a difference. If you love to help others, make life-long friendships, and expand your horizons, then apply to become a camp counselor!!
Our programs enable children living with HIV/AIDS to experience the magic and wonders of childhood free from the stresses of their daily lives. Through love, compassion and hope, Camp Laurel teaches children to understand that each one of them has the ability to make his or her life as full and rich as the next child’s regardless of this illness.
Serving as a camp counselor here is a rewarding and challenging experience, one that many volunteers return to year after year. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, have some prior experience working with children, be comfortable working with adults and children with HIV/AIDS, and have lots of energy. Experience with resident camps and HIV/AIDS is helpful but is not necessary.
"Camp is a time to forget about the worries in our own lives and make a child smile! It is a time to just be silly and send out some good love and get some back!"
-- Lorenzo, Camp Counselor - 50 Camps
