Medication Assistance Volunteer

The Catholic Charities Volunteer Medical Clinic provides primary care services to people in need without charging them for office visits. The Volunteer Clinic is open Thursdays from 8:00AM - 4:30PM. More weekdays will be added as volunteers join. The clinic serves primarily Spanish speaking patients.

The Medication Assistance Volunteer will work with the medication coordinator to obtain free medications for our patients and to maintain our in-house dispensary. The Volunteer Medical Clinic is committed to providing quality health care to our low income patient population. The volunteer’s work will be integral to this mission. 

Volunteers will:

  • Fill out and submit patient’s applications to pharmaceutical companies’ Patient Assistance Programs.
  • Enter all applications, receipts and dispersals of medications into our electronic database. 
  • Track patients’ enrollment status and refill needs.
  • Assist with inventory of in-house dispensary.
  • Contact patients upon arrival of their medications. 

Volunteer Qualifications:

  • Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
  • English speaking; some Spanish speaking ability useful but not required
  • Some knowledge of medications helpful but not required
  • Team player
  • Commitment and personal responsibility
  • Fully embrace the Catholic Charities Culture of Caring

Time Commitment:

  • 4 hour shifts; 2 day(s) per month, ideally Monday or Thursday between 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • 1 year commitment requested

 Location: Spanish Catholic Center Volunteer Medical Clinic, 1618 Monroe St., NW Washington, DC 20010

  • Limited street parking is available in front of the facility
  • Also accessible via the DC Metro Columbia Heights station
  • Lot parking available on a case by case basis 
  • Also accessible via the DC Metro Columbia Heights station (yellow/green line)

To complete an application, you will need the following:

  • Photo of government issued ID
  • Social Security number to complete Background Check Authorization form. If you do not have one, email volunteer@cc-dc.org for different screening.
  • 3 names and email addresses for references (personal or profession, just not a relative)
