Uterish is an intersectional feminist nonprofit that focuses on education, activism, and fundraising for reproductive justice causes. Founders Alex, Greta, and Taya started Uterish in 2016 as seniors in high school; today, we offer a volunteer program for self-directed current sophomores and juniors who are passionate about social justice and want to develop professional skills while learning about reproductive justice. (Learn more about Uterish here.)
This is a remote, part-time, unpaid volunteer opportunity that will take place June through August. Hours and start dates are flexible according to the schedule of the intern, and we anticipate about five hours of work a week.
Job Description
We are looking for current high school students who are eager to develop editorial and communications skills in an intersectional feminist setting. Depending on areas of interest, interns could take on a variety of projects — past interns have written for our blog and newsletter, assisted in publicity projects, and developed social media campaigns, among other opportunities. Volunteers will also have the chance to pitch and develop one large self-directed project as desired. All volunteers will leave with writing and editing skills, and having learned more about reproductive justice. This is a learning opportunity to cultivate personal and professional skills in a collaborative, feminist, nonprofit environment.
Desired Skills
Because Uterish is a completely volunteer-run operation, this internship is a volunteer position and therefore unpaid. We offer experience, skill development, mentorship, and a letter of reference to prepare our interns for future career opportunities.
