There is a growing need in Western Queens for Friendly Visitors who can visit with a homebound older adult. Friendly Visitors visit their older adult once per week. Friendly Visitors promote feelings of positivity, reduce isolation, and help older adults to feel that they are part of the larger community. Similarly, Pet Pals volunteers visit once per week and also help with light pet related tasks.

Volunteer requirements:

·        Be at least 18 years old

·        Live in New York City, New Jersey or Connecticut

·        Provide proof of vaccination

·        No experience necessary!

Friendly Visiting at Sunnyside Community Services is currently actively searching for volunteers. We are very interested in applicants who are dog lovers in the following neighborhoods: Astoria, LIC, and Flushing. We are currently seeking cat lovers in Woodside, Bayside, and Floral Park.
