The San Diego chapter of the Association of Talent Development (ATD) is a non-profit organization dedicated to those who develop talent in organizations. These professionals help others achieve their full potential by improving their knowledge, skills, and abilities, and ATD San Diego strives to support this community of professionals across San Diego. This unpaid board position likely requires 20 hours/month for the first month, and then 10 hours/month thereafter. Much of the work (including board meetings) can be completed remotely.
Purpose: To ensure the Chapter’s sound financial status and to maintain and promote continuity of the Chapter’s financial records.
Reports to: Chapter President
Term: Two years
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with President, set annual goals for managing chapter finances.
- In collaboration with President, prepare annual chapter budget with input from Board members. Finalize and present annual chapter budget at the January board meeting.
- Works closely with Office Manager and other board members in a collaborative manner.
- Review the quality of, and contracts for, current chapter accounts and investments. Where needed, recommend account and investment changes. Invest excess funds interest-bearing accounts.
- In all financial matters, maintain chapter tax-exempt non-profit status.
- Interpret and explain financial statements and operating procedures to board members in helping them to assess the financial status of their assigned areas.
- Efficiently collect and disburse funds as authorized by established procedures (e.g., Bylaws), including depositing funds and paying chapter bills.
- Oversee preparation of annual financial report and audit; coordinate preparation of federal and state tax forms with an accountant.
- Control procedures for collection and disbursement of funds, including obtaining signature approval by responsible board members and president for all board expenditures.
- Establish and maintain accurate records of income and disbursements.
- Prepare and present monthly financial statements at board meetings, including distributing monthly analysis and year-to-date totals for each board position.
- Attend board meetings
Qualifications:
- Be proficient in the use of Quickbooks and Excel.
- Demonstrated experience in budget design, fiscal responsibility and bookkeeping practices.
- Strong business ethics, honesty and integrity required.
- Ability to review, assess, and make competent recommendations regarding chapter investments.
- Adept in verbal communication, diplomacy, personal interaction, and problem solving.
- Ability to complete projects within established timeframes.
- Become a member in good standing with ATD National and ATD--San Diego.
- Time available to attend all board meetings and chapter events that allow for socialization to our chapter..
