Develop a holistic and engaging curriculum for weekly 2-hour tutoring sessions geared towards high-achieving Sophomore, Junior and Senior high school students from low-resource backgrounds.
Develop and implement a Critical Thinking, Writing, and Math test preparation curriculum that prepares students for the SAT and better prepares students for academic success.
Create weekly session plans in partnership with volunteer instructors utilizing Kaplan and other provided materials.
Ensure all students in the program (Three classes: Sophomore, Junior, Seniors of 4-6 students each, ~15 total) are given tools to improve their academic performance.
Manage and oversee volunteer instructors and ensure they have the guidance they need to carry out weekly sessions.
Interview prospective instructors on an as-needed basis.
Time Commitment:
4-6 hrs/week total from September through May
2 hours on Saturdays during session from 10-noon providing direct instruction to students
2-4 hours (flexible/ asynchronous) to prepare for session in partnership with other instructors
Instructor Expectations:
A college graduate
Dedication and commitment to working with peers to support student learning
Teaching experience and deep knowledge of all topics not required
Attend 75% of the sessions from September through May
Strong organizational and planning skills
