Position Summary
The Assistant Museum Manager assists the Museum Manager in operating the Museum of the Alphabet and the Mexico-Cardenas Museum. The Assistant Museum Manager reports to the Museum Manager/Curator. This is a full-time position for a volunteer or a staff person who raises their own support. Please submit resumes and inquiries to HR_Director@jaars.org .
Position Responsibilities
- Communicates about JAARS history, mission and work
- Guides museum tours and monitors tour schedule
- Assists with supervising and training staff
- Maintains the inventory of museum collections
- Coordinates programs and events
- Collaborates in updating current exhibits and in planning, designing and constructing new exhibits
- Performs any other tasks as needed
Position Requirements
- Demonstrates a deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes personal growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth
- Embrace the vision, mission and core values of JAARS
- Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, History, Museum Studies, Linguistics, Missions, Education or related field
- Able to communicate well in English written and oral form
- Management, organizational and computer skills required
- Personable and enjoys people and working as part of a team
- Previous cross-cultural experience helpful but not required
- Must be a US citizen or green card holder to apply
