About The Posse Foundation:
The Posse Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that
recruits and trains diverse teams (“posses”) of public high school students who
exhibit strong leadership merit. Since 1989, Posse’s partner colleges have
awarded over $1.6 billion in scholarships to more than 10,000 Scholars from
around the country. Nationally, Posse recruits students from more than 20 cities
across the United States. The program has offices in 10 recruitment cities:
Atlanta, the Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New
Orleans, New York, and Washington D.C. Through its Virtual Program, Posse also
recruits geographically diverse cohorts from multiple cities including
Charlotte, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Memphis, Newark, Philadelphia, Phoenix,
and select cities in Indiana, Minnesota, and Virginia.
Through a carefully structured, three-month selection process, Posse candidates are evaluated using criteria beyond academic achievement, including leadership talent, desire to succeed, and ability to work constructively with people from diverse backgrounds. Once a student is selected as a Posse Scholar, they attend an after-school, training program for the eight months directly before college begins. The Posse Program continues to work with its Scholars throughout college with an On-Campus Program and a
Career Program.
