About the Africa Investment Network (AIN)
The Africa Investment Network (AIN) is a nonprofit organization advancing trade, investment, and strategic partnerships between Africa, the diaspora, and global markets. Through initiatives such as the Global Africa Summit (GAS) series, ecosystem-building programs, and the 6Africa platform, AIN works to strengthen economic collaboration, market access, entrepreneurship, and capital mobilization across sectors and regions.
Position Overview
AIN is seeking a Fundraising & Grants Fellow (Volunteer) to support the organization’s fundraising, donor engagement, and grant development efforts.
This role is ideal for someone interested in nonprofit development, international development, strategic partnerships, philanthropy, and resource mobilization. The fellow will support efforts to identify funding opportunities, develop grant proposals and sponsorship materials, and strengthen AIN’s capacity to support high-impact programs and ecosystem initiatives.
The role offers hands-on exposure to fundraising strategy, partnership development, and international economic development initiatives focused on Africa and the diaspora.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Research & Funding Identification
- Research grant, sponsorship, and funding opportunities aligned with AIN’s mission and strategic priorities
- Identify opportunities from foundations, development agencies, corporations, multilateral institutions, and philanthropic organizations
- Support maintenance of a funding pipeline and grant tracking system
Proposal & Content Development
- Assist with drafting grant proposals, concept notes, sponsorship packages, and funding applications
- Support development of organizational narratives, impact statements, and program descriptions
- Help prepare donor-facing materials and partnership briefs
Fundraising & Donor Engagement Support
- Support outreach and engagement with prospective funders and partners
- Assist with donor research and relationship tracking
- Help coordinate fundraising campaigns, sponsorship outreach, and partnership engagement efforts
Strategic Research & Reporting
- Conduct research on trends in philanthropy, development finance, and Africa-focused funding ecosystems
- Support preparation of reports, briefing materials, and fundraising updates
- Assist with gathering organizational information, metrics, and supporting documentation for proposals
Qualifications
- Student, recent graduate, or early-career professional in nonprofit management, international development, public policy, business, communications, economics, or related fields
- Strong writing, research, and organizational skills
- Interest in fundraising, grant writing, philanthropy, or partnership development
- Ability to synthesize information clearly and professionally
- Passion for Africa-focused development, trade, investment, or global engagement
Preferred:
- Experience with grant writing, fundraising, donor relations, or nonprofit development
- Familiarity with proposal writing or sponsorship development
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
