Catholic Charities Quality Improvement Assistant Volunteer

Catholic Charities’ Healthcare Services provide access to primary care for adults and children, sub‐acute ambulatory care, dental care, behavioral health, health education and disease management. We serve people of all ages who are low‐income, uninsured, or covered by Montgomery Cares or Care for Kids, and provide low‐cost, patient-centered primary and specialty care services on‐site. 

A Quality Improvement Assistant will help the QI Manager to plan, design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive continuous quality improvement program across Healthcare Services. Volunteers will collaborate with Healthcare services staff to problem solve solutions to process improvement issues using the PDSA method, conduct patient satisfaction phone surveys, compile and analyze results, and follow up with various tasks as assigned. This volunteer will contribute to improving the quality of Integrated Healthcare Services Catholic Charities delivers to people most in need.  

The Quality Improvement Assistant Volunteer will be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with healthcare services staff problem solve priority issues using the PDSA (PLAN – DO – Study – Act) QI methodology 
  • Helping to conduct patient satisfaction phone surveys 
  • Compile and analyze patient satisfaction survey results 
  • Reviewing and formatting documents 
  • Maintaining databases 
  • Following up with various tasks

Desired Skills, Experience & Characteristics:

  • Great customer service skills
  • Experience working with underserved/underprivileged clients
  • A professional attitude
  • An interest in public health (not required)
  • Willingness to learn 

Qualifications:

  • Intermediate Spanish proficiency
  • Bilingual Spanish/English speaker is preferred
  • Volunteers must be 18 years or older

  • Volunteers will receive on-site training at a Catholic Charities Medical Center
  • Volunteers will have on-site supervision

Time Commitment:

  •  Time commitment may vary depending on need and availability

Location: Volunteers will work remotely during COVID-19; ability to visit sites in DC metro area after COVID-19 a plus

  • Photo of government issued ID
  • Social Security number to complete Background Check Authorization form. If you do not have one, email volunteer@cc-dc.org for different screening.
  • 3 names and email addresses for references (personal or profession, just not a relative)
