Online Tutors Needed for Math and English - Grades 3 - 12

El Nido Family Centers, a dynamic 100-year-old nonprofit agency serving the greater Los Angeles area’s most marginalized people, is seeking homework helpers for 3rd through 12th graders in English (basic reading comprehension, high school literature analysis, Shakespeare) or math (arithmetic, fractions and decimals, algebra, calculus). The time commitment is one hour per week, but the impact you’ll make will last a lifetime. The biggest requirement is that you enjoy working with kids. Tutoring can take place after school on weekdays or on weekends.

This is a wonderful opportunity for seniors to connect with a younger generation, or high school students who are looking to give back by helping their peers.

ADULT TUTORING REQUIREMENTS:

• Attend a tutoring Orientation
• Work with tutoring team to submit attendance
• Understand the living situation that students are facing such as lack of private space, proper computer equipment, and family issues that might require rescheduling a session
• Live Scan background check (approx.$30)

MINOR TUTORING REQUIREMENTS:

• Parent approval
• Applicant has one recommendation from a teacher or counselor
• Attend a tutoring Orientation
• Work with tutoring team to submit attendance
• Understand the living situation that students are facing such as lack of private space, proper computer equipment, and family issues that might require rescheduling a session
