Development VISTA (AmeriCorps)

Position Summary

The Development VISTA works closely with the Development Director to increase the overall capacity of the organization through the cultivation and recognition of donors and coordination of fundraising events. This supports the Our House mission of serving the working homeless by garnering support for our clients and families through fundraising.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate two annual fundraising events to raise $600,000 for Our House.
• Plan donor recognition, and committee and event chair appreciation.
• Cultivate donors by utilizing and maintaining Salsa CRM and Engage platforms
• Become adept in using the Salsa CRM and Engage system by completing training courses. Using knowledge learned from training, create and add to the organizations database user manual so that all Development team members know current database functions.

Compensation

This is a full‐time national service position that provides a living allowance of approximately $13,399.15 over the course of one year ($513.94 every two weeks). You also have the choice of one of two awards at the end of a successful year of service: a $1,800 cash stipend bonus or a $6,195.00 education award for future educational expenses or federal student loans. Health insurance is available. Some additional health benefits are available to VISTA Members to help with the cost of co‐pays and other medical expenses. Childcare assistance and relocation assistance are available to VISTA Members who qualify. One year of non‐competitive eligibility is also available. Some professional development training opportunities are offered and paid for by Our House. You are responsible for your own housing and other living expenses.

Qualifications

The Development VISTA will be thoroughly committed to Our House’s mission and to national service. All candidates should have the following qualifications and experience:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking skills
• Strong people skills, with ability to form effective working relationships with a wide range of people
• Strong organizational skills and ability to drive multiple simultaneous projects to completion
• At least 18 years of age
• A United States Citizen, National, or Permanent Resident
• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• Must be able to lift 35 pounds
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Available to begin serving on August 30, 2021 for a one‐year term
