Atlanta Angels believe that not everyone is called to foster or adopt, but everyone can make a difference in a child's life. One way you can make an impact is through our Dare to Dream program. The Dare to Dream program focuses on one-on-one mentoring for youth (ages 11-22) who are in foster care, at-risk to age out, or have aged-out. Mentors serve as positive role models who meet with their youth to build relationships and empower them to accomplish their goals. As a mentor, you will have the opportunity to provide youth who are in or have aged out of care with the one-on-one support they need to feel safe, capable, and loved.
This program requires a one-year commitment, with meetings at least twice a month with your mentee.
We are specifically looking for volunteers in Cobb County for youth number 78.
This 12 year old girl loves to play outside when it’s cool or do crafts like drawing and painting. She is in special education at school to help support her and some cognitive delays. She is proudest of the girls on the run program she completed where she ran a 5k. In the future, she wants to be a hair stylist. She has stated that she would like a mentor willing to support her and do fun activities with like going to six flags or white water. This youth would benefit from a mentor who is willing to model consistency and encourage her to chase her dreams.
The first step in the volunteer process is to attend a virtual Discovery Session. You can learn more or sign up here. If you have any questions, please email volunteer@atlantaangels.org or visit our website.
You can schedule to attend a virtual discovery session - we have them most Tuesday at 6pm or Thursday at 12pm. If these times do not work for you, you can also schedule a 1x1 call here.
