Hospice Patient Companion Volunteer

At Nightingsle's Hospice we take pride in being able to provide comfort and dignity to our patients through their end of life journey. As a volunteer you would have the opportunity to be a part of our dedicated team, making a difference in the lives of our patients. 

Volunteers play an integral role in providing hospice care. Our volunteers offer companionship, emotional support, and practical assistance to patients and their families during a challenging time. Volunteers can provide respite care for caregivers, offer a listening ear, or enjoy music, or read a book with a patient. Volunteers can help families with chores or errands and help in alleviating some of the stress that comes with caring for a loved one with a life-limiting illness. Our volunteers make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. 

What are some things volunteers do at Nightingale’s Hospice?

• Sit and have a friendly visit with a patient and family members
• Provide their caregivers with a break
• Read a book out loud
• Coloring
• Crafts
• Playing cards or a board game
• Listening to music
• Playing an instrument
• Looking at photos 
• Talking about their life
• Help them write cards
• Help them facetime loved ones
• Going for a walk
• Helping with light house work
• Running errands
