Tulsa Debate League Debate Tournament #7

The Tulsa Debate League (“TDL” or “the League”) is seeking volunteers for our “urban debate league” tournaments in 2021-2022. We hope you will join us in making debate possible for students in low-income schools in Tulsa.

A growing body of research by academic researchers substantiates the remarks of U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan: “Competitive debate is one of the great equalizers of educational opportunity…To be very clear, the experience of competing on an urban debate team boosts your college readiness and your chance to succeed in life.”

Tournament Locations

Friday: McLain High School, 4929 N Peoria Ave, Tulsa, OK 74126 

Saturday: Monroe Middle School, 2010 E 48th St N, Tulsa, OK 74130 

What’s involved?

You don’t need any background in debate or judging – we will train you. Here is what we need from you:

• Commit to judge at least one shift (more needed!);
• Attend a 30 minute judge training session at the tournament (prior to the tournament);
• Be willing to provide support and encouragement to young people who are learning a new skill.
