Atlanta Angels believes that not everyone is called to foster or adopt, but everyone can make a difference in a child's life. One way you can make an impact is through our Dare to Dream program. The Dare to Dream program focuses on one-on-one mentoring for youth (ages 11-22) who are in foster care, at-risk to age out, or have aged-out. Mentors serve as positive role models who meet with their youth to build relationships and empower them to accomplish their goals. As a mentor, you will have the opportunity to provide youth who are in or have aged out of care with the one-on-one support they need to feel safe, capable, and loved.
This program requires a one-year commitment, with meetings at least twice a month with your mentee.
We are currently seeking specific mentors to be matched with youth on our waitlist! We are specifically looking for volunteers in or around the McDonough area for youth number #87.
This youth has a high energy personality and strong opinions. He loves plants (especially carnivorous plants) and animals and likes to go outside to discover and observe new critters! He loves to do anything physically active, arcade games, and shopping. What he's looking for in a mentor is someone who is chill, kind, and wants to hang out and do fun things with him! Someone who is open-minded, not easily offended, and can confidently model patience and active listening for the youth would be the best match.
Please reach out to Allie at volunteers@atlantaangels.org for more information or please visit our website. If you are in or near Henry County and interested in supporting a youth in your community, please reach out!
