Chapter Leader - West Virginia

The Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism (FAIR) is seeking 

Local Chapter Leaders. 

FAIR is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to advancing civil rights and liberties for all, and promoting a common culture based on fairness, understanding and humanity. 

Here’s what we stand for:

• We defend civil liberties and rights guaranteed to each individual, including freedom of speech and expression, equal protection under the law, and the right to personal privacy.
• We advocate for individuals who are threatened or persecuted for speech, or who are held to a different set of rules for language or conduct based on their skin color, ancestry, or other immutable characteristics.
• We support respectful disagreement. We believe bad ideas are best confronted with good ideas – and never with dehumanization, deplatforming or blacklisting.
• We believe that objective truth exists, that it is discoverable, and that scientific research must be untainted by any political agenda.
• We are pro-human, and promote compassionate anti-racism rooted in dignity and our common humanity.

Chapter Leader Summary

FAIR Chapter leaders recruit, organize, and manage volunteers from their region who are committed to promoting a common culture based on fairness, understanding and humanity. Leaders gain access to support and resources from FAIR to pursue FAIR’s mission in the state, and engage their communities to identify and act upon opportunities for action.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leaders must maintain a philosophical alignment with and be able to articulate FAIR’s pro-human, non-partisan mission, values and principles. 

• Conduct regular needs analysis to establish the chapter’s strategic priorities
• Guide chapter activities including virtual meetings and in person events
• Maintaining chapter email to ensure regularly communication with all members in their region 
• Identifying, training and developing chapter members, volunteers, and co-leaders 
• Delegating responsibilities as appropriate 
• Attending chapter leadership meetings with the National team
• Conduct interviews and respond to local media

Qualifications

• Comfort with ambiguous and ever changing situations
• Must be innovative, flexible and able to work independently in a start-up environment
• Ability to multitask and prioritize 
• Self-starter and independent initiative
• Basic knowledge of Google office software
• Comfortable using conferencing software (i.e. Zoom & Google Meet)
• Willing to learn new technology
• Love of your community with an optimistic, solution based attitude
