Shower Power Plus (SPP) is seeking kindhearted people who want to contribute to
creating a positive impact in our community as drivers for our shower trailer which
serves our unhoused neighbors.
Our goal is to have a three driving teams of two volunteers. Each team will have a
driver to tow the trailer and the other to tow a generator. By having three
teams to share responsibility it allows for volunteers to drive once or twice a
month. These teams will be key part of our growing SPP team.
Driver responsibilities include:
· Connecting the shower trailer/ generator to a tow vehicle at the storage lot
· Towing the shower trailer/ generator to the deployment site ~10 miles
· Setting up the shower trailer at the deployment site, including leveling the trailer and
hooking up the utilities
· At the end of the deployment period the team will disconnect utilities, reconnect the
trailer/ generator to the tow vehicle and return the vehicles to the storage lot.
SPP’s shower trailer has five shower stalls to support our ongoing efforts to improve
health and hygiene of our unhoused community. The vehicle weighs 10,000 lbs.
and requires a ¾ to 1 ton tow vehicle, the generator however, can be towed by a
small pickup truck. A commercial driver’s license is not necessary but towing experience
is desirable. Volunteers with or without their own tow vehicle are encouraged
to apply. A valid driver’s license is required, and a background check will be
conducted.
Thanks for reading. We look forward to hearing from you.
