Agriculture( Sustainable Organic Farming) for Interns and Volunteersrs

Our projects provide quality hands on technical skills for farmers in the area of organic farming ,agriculture and ecosystem management.we are in a high land area where 95% of the people depend on agriculture for a living and crop cultivation is basically organic. With high demand of food crops in the market, our organization has decided to increase output in the field of greenhouse farming and at the same time increasing the size of our farms. As an Intern or volunteer, you will join our team to:

-Assist Farming Groups or agricultural students in farming fields -Growing herbs and organic vegetables and fruits.

-carried out classes on demonstration farms with students

-Share common ideas on Agriculture with students and local farmers.

-Visit cattle ranch and assist in feeding and milking

-Assist or learn how crops such as cavassava is transformed into finish products, such as garri, beer, cassava flour, bohbolo, kokoi and accra cassava.

-You will come across and learn how palm trees, cocoa, potatoes, beans, rice, Cabbage, onion, carrot, maize, okro among others are organically cultivated by farming groups or students. You would also join our team in raising awareness on various agricultural practices, share ideas and create awareness on environmental issues like Global warming, climate change, depletion of natural resources and wherever possible in seeking solutions as well. This will be done in our Agricultural institution

Volunteers are accommodated in volunteer houses and you chose to share or not to share a room. we recommend volunteers to bring their own towel and toiletries. The accommodation is safe and secure with the houses located in a safe area in town near the community where volunteers work. Living is comfortable and the volunteer houses have electricity and running water with Western toilets.

our volunteers receive three meals per day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and meals served in the volunteer house are typically Western-style. Breakfast consists of self-serve tea, coffee, toast and cereal. At breakfast time, volunteers are also provided with food for making a sandwich as a packed lunch for their project, this is particularly important for Teaching volunteers to note, as your day usually ends after lunch. Dinner consists of dishes containing meat, vegetables and a starch, such as potatoes, bread or pasta. Bottled water is readily available in Cameroon and you should budget approximately US$2 per week for this (5 liters per day), however tap water is fine to drink in the volunteer houses and most other areas. If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know as we program and make arrangements for you. However, we need to stress the point that you should expect to eat more as you normally do at home. We will do our best to see that you are well taken care of, but also as a volunteer.

Orientation is taken by our team at our offices in Cameroon. Orientation begins on the morning of your chosen start date and covers everything you need to know for your volunteer program in Cameroon– Introduction to our Customs, Language Training Details, Rules and Expectations, Safety, Travel Opportunities in Africa, Introduction to your project and placement. The orientation will also give you a chance to meet other volunteers and swap contact details for weekend travel and socializing.
