Food Preppers Urgently Needed | Feed Housing Insecure Kids | Backpack Brigade

We are in urgent need of food preppers on Monday and Wednesday mornings! You will help prepare food for bags that go right to kids suffering from homelessness or housing insecurity in King County.

We are a small 501c3 nonprofit, whose sole mission is to end weekend hunger in Washington State. By delivering bags of food to schools, we feed over 2,600 kids per week to help them make it from Friday lunch to Monday breakfast without a single stomach growl. We serve schools in Renton, Laurelhurst, Bellevue, and everywhere in between. Make an impact in your community today!

Volunteers typically arrive anytime between 8:00 am and 9:30 am on Mondays and Wednesdays. We want to accommodate your schedule. People typically choose 9:30 to 11:30 or about two hours of work.

Prepping food requires you to lift sometimes heavy, sometimes light food from our warehouse to the tables where they’re packed on Tues/Thurs.

Our warehouse is located near Showbox Sodo, Filson, and Krispy Kreme on 1st Avenue in South Seattle.

Please consider becoming a weekly packer for Backpack Brigade. With recent expansions into new districts, we are at our limit and don’t have the heart to turn anyone away. Do something for the most vulnerable in our community today!
