At the Brown University School of Public Health, building a diverse and inclusive school is central to our mission. We believe that bringing together students, faculty, and staff with a range of life experiences creates a dynamic community that offers the contrasting perspectives and ideas needed for public health innovation.
The School of Public Health is located in beautiful Providence, Rhode Island, a city known for its innovative arts scene, exceptional culinary offerings, and unpretentious vibe. Providence’s small size makes it the perfect place to learn and practice public health, with abundant opportunities for collaboration across the Brown University campus and with the Warren Alpert Medical School, our 8 affiliated hospitals, the Rhode Island Department of Health, as well as many nearby community organizations. Our students learn public health by doing public health!
Reach out to us! Our students, alumni, faculty, leadership and staff are committed to improving population health by advancing science and training tomorrow’s leaders. O que nossos estudantes dizem
I chose Brown because of the amazing faculty doing inspiring global health work! It was also important for me to find a small program where I felt welcomed, and class sizes are small enough to get individual attention.
Aly Beeman, MPH ‘20It's only 3.5 hours away from New York, but I find the culture is totally different (in a great way). Providence is much more manageable, has great food, and is close to all sorts of scenic areas. It enforces a good balance between recreation and work. Also, going to school here grants you valuable proximity to front-line health innovation and policy work that isn’t possible in bigger states.
Mikey Mercedes, PhD in Behavioral and Social Health Sciences ‘22The individual attention given to each student is definitely something that sets Brown apart. I also really appreciate how my program builds in an opportunity to do primary research with global health practitioners in different parts of the world.
Gloria Wowolo, Master's in Global Public Health ‘20
