The mission of Wesley Theological Seminary is to equip persons for Christian ministry and leadership in the church and the world, to advance theological scholarship, and to model a prophetic voice in the public square.
Wesley is an accredited seminary in the Wesleyan-Arminian tradition that is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The seminary offers master’s degrees in three different programs and focused certificate programs in the arts, public theology, and African American Studies.The curriculum at Wesley is also open to those who may not be interested in a full degree but would like to get a taste for theological education for personal enrichment.
Whatever your passions are, wherever you feel called to ministry, whatever your background, there is a place for you on our campus. In addition to the student council, there are a multitude of opportunities to be involved on campus however much or little your schedule will allow! We have several student organizations: Association of Black Seminarians, Gente Latinx Seminarians Association, Korean Student Association, Of Sacred Worth, Plumbline, and Wesley Fellowship.
Wesley is a learning community rooted in the Christian tradition yet situated at the crossroads of the center of power in Washington, DC. We are a group of faculty, staff and students striving to participate in God’s mission for the world at a time of constant change. We attempt to deepen our faith and prepare ourselves spiritually and theologically for leadership to be of service for the Reign of God.

As a degree-seeking student, you may take nine or more credit hours as a full-time student or 5-8 credit hours as a part-time student.
1. Order your official transcripts from all your previous undergraduate and graduate schools.

2. Prepare your:
a. Personal Statement (400-500 words) describing:
- The formative elements in your background, focusing on the most significant people and events that have shaped your faith and identity as a person
- Your sense of your vocational call and your professional objective
- Your reasons for wanting to pursue theological education at Wesley
Note: you must upload your personal statement as a Word document.
b. Resume. You need to upload this in the online application.
c. Recommendations. These can be sent electronically via the online application. If that is not possible, download the form.
For Master of Divinity, you will need the following recommendations:

For Master of Theological Studies or Masters of Arts, you will need the following recommendations:

3. Get your credit or debit card ready to pay the $60 application fee. (Or, attend an in-person or online visit event for a fee waiver. Learn more at wesleyseminary.edu/visit)
