Description

The Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM) is dedicated to protecting Maine’s natural resources, promoting sustainable practices, and supporting Maine’s communities. We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our team as a full-time Leadership Gifts Officer. The Leadership Gifts Officer will be NRCM’s sole full-time frontline fundraiser of philanthropic gifts from individuals/households. They are responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts of $1,000 and above, with a particular focus on a portfolio of donors giving annually at the $5,000+ level. This position is a “road warrior” with an emphasis on conducting in-person and video call visits with NRCM members and donors. The majority of travel takes place within Maine, with select trips to major U.S. cities. This hybrid position requires a minimum of one day a week, and more at certain times of year, working in NRCM’s Augusta, Maine, office.

Supervisor: Senior Director of Philanthropy

Status: Full time, salary, exempt

Salary: $75,000-85,000


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-person and video call meetings, with the goal of a minimum of 10 significant visits monthly, primarily in Maine
  • Solicit donors and prospects for $1,000+ annual gifts, multi-year major gift commitments, and legacy gifts based on donor interest and mission alignment
  • Prioritize building relationships with, and closing gifts from, $5,000+ donors identified in fiscal year revenue projections
  • Manage a portfolio of 150-200 donors in all phases of the gift lifecycle
  • Steward assigned prospects with customized communications, targeted event invitations, and thoughtful engagement of staff and board member partners
  • Participate in regular Moves Management meetings


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of prior experience in a frontline fundraising role combined with experience soliciting 4-figure gifts
  • Experience utilizing fundraising database/customer relationship management programs
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects and donors following a Moves Management process.
  • Experience with both highly engaged donors as well as making qualification calls.
  • A high level of initiative, organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills
