Descrição

We are looking for a Community Manager who is passionate about social media, creating content, and driving community growth to make a difference in people’s lives and help make the world a better place.

We are looking to hire someone for a 6-month contract, in a part-time schedule (20 hours a week), and we offer a salary range of 13K—17K Euros/year (depending on your experience).

This role will be based in Spain. The person can work at our office in Madrid or remotely in any city in Spain.

1. Would you like to be part of Vizzuality’s story?

Are you motivated by the desire to make a positive impact on the planet?  Looking to put your skills to work on something truly meaningful?

At Vizzuality, our purpose is to reach a fair and sustainable planet by creating tools that radically empower people to make positive changes now.

We are a world-leading technology, design, and science agency. We design and develop data-driven tools and applications for international organizations that focus on Climate Change, Biodiversity, and Inequality.

Solving such large and complex problems will bring you into contact with new technology and some of the world's most interesting organizations and academics in machine learning, remote sensing, and planetary data. Our team works on projects like these:

2. Our Culture

Our aim is to help the world become a better place. Therefore, we need to make sure we care about our people and give them the power to build great things. These are some of the principles that define our culture:

We Trust: Our team structure relies on self-organization. We want to work with colleagues who don't have to look 'up' for approval, nor look 'down' and give instructions. As soon as you step inside, we will equip you with all the tools to enable your success, and then we will trust you to do great things.

We Delight: We use our deep understanding of people's needs to spark delight. Our choices are based on science, research, and design principles.

We Care: For ourselves, our colleagues, and the organization. We know what we do is important, and we have a strong sense of responsibility for the work we do.

We Grow: As we are always embarking on new projects and challenges, a continuous learning mindset and a 'Can Do' attitude is a must. We are conscientious, and we focus on learning and achieving our goals. We give power to people so they can make decisions and plot their own paths with help from all around them.

We have fun: We also know that you need to balance seriousness with fun. If you can make people smile, you will be off to a great start!

3. A month in the life of a Community Manager at Vizzuality.

This role's main focus will be supporting the communications team on our Horizon Europe and international NGO projects. Horizon Europe is the EU’s key funding program for research and innovation. We are partners of several consortiums and lead the communication and dissemination of some of these projects. They are of various sizes, ranging from a partnership of 7 to 21 organizations. For each, we need to oversee the content calendar, ensure actions from all partners are documented, and publish a steady flow of communications per various channels, including but not limited to social media, website blogs, and newsletters. This involves a mixture of planning, coordinating, editing, and content creation.

Some of the main project topics we are currently covering are coastal risk, climate and nature risk to critical infrastructure, and citizen science. Expertise in these specific topics will not be necessary, but understanding the wider scope of sustainability will be helpful for grasping the content and more effective communication.

  • Help your communication team colleagues manage content plans and calendars for our Horizon Europe projects.
  • Pair with your peers to learn what our processes and tools are.
  • Edit partner content to ensure a consistent voice and dissemination of best practices are used for each project account.
  • Create compelling, targeted content for external audiences. You will write blogs and create social media content.
  • Support the regular publication of digital content that communicates the project's work, knowledge, and purpose.
  • Manage multiple social media accounts and lead the community management on these channels. Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment.
  • Engage with our community and key voices to build interesting and active social media platforms. Our primary platform is LinkedIn.
  • Monitor community engagement metrics, analyze data, and provide regular reports with insights and recommendations for improvement.

4. Skills and experiences we are looking for in a candidate

(*) Even if you think you don't tick all the boxes below, we'd still love to hear from you. Nobody checks every box, and we are looking for someone excited to join the team and aligned with our purpose!

Experience.

  • Community Management experience: At least 2 years of experience working for an in-house or agency team as a community manager or similar role.
  • Social Media: Ability to manage our accounts and content that is useful and engaging for users. You will engage with our community through events, social media posts, and other initiatives or channels. You have created and kept to social media plans. In particular, you have experience and knowledge of LinkedIn. You are excited by growing and engaging with online communities.
  • Writing: A flair for storytelling and creative communication. Writing will be a big part of this role, and we want someone who can make people laugh, cry, or leap into action with their words. Whether it’s a tweet or a 1,000-word essay, every word is important, and we’d love to see some examples of your writing.
  • Sustainability: You are passionate about tackling climate breakdown, biodiversity and/or social inequality, and driven by our purpose when it comes to achieving a sustainable and fair future. Knowledge of sustainability is an advantage, but a willingness to learn and motivation for sustainability is more important.
  • Basic design: Ability to work with templates and adhere to design best practices to ensure consistent, clean visuals across various branding.

Skills.

  • Native or fluent English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Highly motivated and a proactive self-starter.

Nice to have.

  • Inter-sectoral relationship management: you have worked with people across sectors, from industry to academia and even policymakers.
