    Visual Storyteller - Communications Manager

Change Consulting is seeking a Visual Storyteller with strong project management skills to support our Digital and Content team and our agency with ongoing graphic design and creative services. The ideal candidate is a visual storyteller who sits at the intersection of strategy and craft. Beyond making things look good, you design with purpose to grow community power and advance racial and social justice. The Visual Storyteller designs impactful creative across social, web, email, and campaign collateral. You’ll be a core partner to our digital and content team and to our in-house agency marketing team, producing assets that move people to act.

    Who you are:

    1. Movement-centered: Committed to racial justice with a demonstrated understanding of systemic issues impacting Black communities and communities of color. You understand how creative storytelling fuels campaigns and advances racial, gender, and economic justice, and you know how to do it with care.
    2. Visual storyteller: Able to distill complex information into compelling, leading-edge design that advances strategy. You are constantly learning about a fast-evolving digital landscape, and know what actually serves audiences.
    3. Proactive problem-solver: You ask good questions and seek help when needed—bringing options, not just issues.
    4. Team-first and accountable: Motivated by responsibility and delivering high-quality work, with high impact and low-ego.
    5. Detail oriented and adaptable: Ready to integrate into internal structures and client workflows with curiosity and care. You project manage with ease and make workflows smoother for everyone.

    What you believe:

    • Great design can be a tool for dignity, safety, and opportunity.
    • Visual storytelling can shift culture, policy, and power.
    • The best ideas come from collaboration with communities closest to the issue.

    What you’ll create:

Day-to-day responsibilities will vary based on active projects and partnerships, and may include the following in support of Change Consulting and our clients:

    • Social visuals, including graphics, infographics, carousels, memes, and short form videos.
    • Collateral, such as one-pagers, flyers, brief reports, slide decks.
    • Email templates, headers, and visual systems for campaigns.
    • Website updates, landing pages, and asset production.
    • Campaign assets, including concept boards, storyboards, and creative for client campaigns.

    How you’ll work:

    • Partner with the digital and content team, and our in-house marketing lead, to translate goals into clear, accessible visual storytelling.
    • Manage projects end-to-end, including developing briefs, timelines, review cycles, delivery, and improving systems so day-to-day requests are efficient, understandable, and replicable.
    • Maintain a pulse on platform trends, accessibility standards, and emerging design patterns and apply them with care.
    • Integrate smoothly into both Change Consulting’s internal systems and client-specific workflows, adapting to different project management tools or feedback processes as needed, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
    • Communicate with internal teams using Slack and email, providing clear, timely updates.
    • Track and deliver assignments in Asana, using dependencies, tags, and templates to maintain visibility on timelines, revisions, and approvals.
    • Manage project files and templates in Google Drive, applying consistent naming conventions and version control for seamless access and edits.
    • Collect and implement design feedback through Pastel, Canva commenting, and Google Drive suggestions, ensuring revisions are efficient and context-specific.
    • Collaborate with external design partners as needed to streamline workflows and deliver complete, seamless packages of design materials.

    Required skills:

    • Adobe Creative Cloud: Advanced skills in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign (After Effects a plus).
    • Canva: Advanced skills including template creation, brand kit management, and collaborative feedback.
    • Email design: Familiar with Mailchimp (templates, headers, basic HTML-friendly practices).
    • Web basics: Comfortable making light updates in WordPress, Squarespace, or Webflow.
    • Bonus: Familiarity with Figma or Sketch for collaborative design.
    • 2-3 years visual/graphic design experience required.
    • Experience working in agencies, social justice communications, marketing, or political campaigns preferred.

As with the work of the entire agency, the ideal candidate will also reflect our values:

    • We believe in changemakers, and in the power of courageous, creative people to build a better world.
    • We build cherished, long-term partnerships with clients and communities.
    • We advance racial justice, centering the liberation of Black people and people of color in all we do.
    • We lead with love, bringing our whole hearts to the work.
    • We prioritize high impact and keep egos and drama low.
    • We hold ourselves and our partners in the light of possibility.
    • We believe more connection and joy are possible.
