This year’s Wishes for Wildlife event and auction is entitled “Mammals in the Moonlight” in honor of our new educational exhibit of non releasable mammals. Best known for the hundreds of bird species that we treat each year in our wildlife hospital, most people are unaware that we are one of the nations largest rehabilitation centers for others species, too. We saw over 1,000 mammals in the hospital last year, including coyotes, javelina, bobcats, beavers, opossum, squirrels, cottontail rabbits, jackrabbits, and coatimundi.
There are a few of these that are not releasable and have been added to our education permits for guests to see during visiting hours. And this year’s event celebrates the opening of those enclosures. In addition to visiting with these residents, you will also experience up close visits with eagles and other raptors, and get to explore our interactive room with snakes, Gila monsters, and Sonoran toads, among others.
In past years over 200+ have attended this great event on our campus, with live music, great food, wildlife presentations, a libation pull, and a fantastic auction.
