Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as an integral member of the senior leadership team, the Senior Director of Operations is responsible for the development of King Street Center’s financial and operational strategies and contributes to the development of the organization’s strategic goals. In addition to the strategic components, the Sr Director of Operations will be charged with developing and implementing more sophisticated policies and procedures in the finance, human resources, and general operational realms. They will ensure the internal daily planning, implementation, management and oversight of the organization is running smoothly and will supervise the human resources manager, operations manager, and facilities director. They are supervised by the Executive Director and considered to be second in command when the executive director is out or unreachable.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position supervises the Facilities Director, Human Resources Manager and Operations Manager. The Senior Director will coach and support the team while ensuring strategic goals are met.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in operations, finance, administration, or organizational leadership, preferably in a mission-driven or nonprofit setting.
- Minimum 3 years of experience supervising a team of at least three direct reports, including manager-level or departmental leaders.
- Demonstrated success building and scaling organizational systems and teams, with a track record of strengthening infrastructure to support growth.
- Experience managing finance, human resources, facilities, and organizational systems, including data management and compliance.
- Familiarity with youth development, education, or community-based organizations preferred; passion for equity and opportunity for all children required.
- Strong skills in strategic planning, execution, team leadership, and change management, with a collaborative approach to aligning departments around shared goals.

Core Responsibilities
Strategy, Vision, and Leadership
- Serve as a thought partner to the Executive Director, Senior Director of Philanthropy, and Senior Director of Programs with an eye towards organizational expansion and enhancement.
- Develop and implement the infrastructure needed to support the growth of the organization.
- Advise the Executive Director and other key members of senior leadership on budgeting, cash flow, and policy matters.
- With the Executive Director, serve as the management liaison to the board’s finance and building and safety committees; effectively communicate and present critical matters at select board of directors and committee meetings.
- Contribute to the development of King Street Center’s strategic goals and objectives, as well as the overall management of the organization.
- Mentor, coach, and supervise the Human Resources Manager, Facilities Director, Operations Manager, and also oversee external contractors such as the fractional CFO and bookkeeper to ensure the day-to-day administrative operations of the organization are running smoothly.
- Lead the operationalization of the Strategic Plan, ensuring each goal has clear metrics, timelines, and accountability structures across departments.”
- Oversee organizational risk management systems, including compliance, insurance, data protection, and incident reporting processes.
- Ensure all operational systems, policies, and vendor partnerships are aligned with KSC’s equity values and inclusive workplace practices.
Human Resources Strategy and Oversight
- Oversee and direct high level human resources strategy, including compensation, talent acquisition and retention strategies, and employee development in alignment with KSC’s growth and strategic initiatives.
- Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality and equity.
- Ensure opportunities for professional development in collaboration with senior leadership team
- Responsible for helping to build and maintain a strong organizational culture
- Integrate trauma-informed and staff-wellbeing practices into HR policies, supervision models, and organizational culture.
- Develop systems to track workforce metrics—recruitment, retention, turnover, satisfaction
- Ensure equitable hiring, pay equity audits, and inclusive professional pathways.
Operations & Administration
- Develop policies, systems, and procedures, including internal communications, that will improve day-to-day operations. Collaborate with senior leadership on the implementation of those processes and systems.
- Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the organization’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identify opportunities for improvement.
- Create and lead engaging staff days for all KSC staff to build organizational culture and staff competencies.
- Create a dashboard for tracking agency-wide strategic plan goals in a data driven way.
- In collaboration with the senior leadership team, establish and execute procedures for safety and emergency response and management.
- Integrate best practices, technology, and automation tools to streamline operations and improve quality of services delivered.
- Lead process improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, environmental sustainability, and resource stewardship.
Finance
- Under the direction of the Executive Director and in partnership with the senior leadership team, plan, direct, implement, evaluate, monitor, and forecast budgets and costs to achieve financial objectives.
- Review and update financial processes, programs, and protocols to ensure the agency is operating efficiently and in compliance with all laws.
- Regularly review bank account activity, deposits, and financial reports.
- Partner with the Senior Director of Programs and Family Support Director to ensure projected income for CCFAP is met in accordance with financial goals.
- Oversee the annual audit
- Partner with development, programs, and Executive Director to develop financial reports for grants and state funds
- Oversee and execute strategic projects having to do with finances
Employment Details
- Compensation: $75,000-95,000 per year
- Location: This is a primarily on-site position with the option of remote work 1-2 days per week after initial 90 days
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week between the hours of 8:00am - 6:00pm, year-round.
