Member Relations Manager

Denver, CO

The Member Relations Manager makes sure the citizen members of the groups in The Public Interest Network are supported with every interaction. Our citizen members are critical to our ability to win campaigns. You'll oversee staff who will help you to answer questions from our members and make sure we're sending out letters to keep our best members connected to our campaigns. In addition, you'll maintain accurate records in our member database and report on income.

Key Responsibilities:

As Member Relations Manager you will help to deepen our member support with every interaction, including:

  • Customer Service: Answer phone calls and email questions from our members.
  • Affinity Production: Send out several different types of letters, emails, and texts to the correct members at the correct time.
  • Staff Management: Hire, train, and oversee a team of staff who help get the customer service and affinity production done.
  • Data and Reporting: Ensure member data is correct and report on income generated.

Qualifications:

Entry-level candidates with a passion for our issues, mission, and values and a strong desire to build a better world with their life are encouraged to apply. To be effective in this role, you need to be goal-driven, detail-oriented and highly organized, with the maturity to manage confidential and/or sensitive information.

A top candidate will have these qualities:

  • Driven by the missions of The Public Interest Network, Environment America, and PIRG.
  • Management/leadership experience: Ready to oversee several staff. Ideally you already have experience overseeing staff or being in charge of other people, and working with them towards a common goal.
  • Customer Service: Some experience with customer service, and great instincts on how to handle questions quickly and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail: You’re good at keeping track of detailed projects, making sure every step is done with care.
  • You’re fired up about the idea of building a nonprofit organization behind the scenes, and have an appreciation of the importance of organizing and citizen members.

Compensation & Benefits

The target annual compensation for this position is $38,180. The Public Interest Network offers an excellent benefits package. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents, paid time off, our commuter benefit program, a 401(k) plan with employer match, parental leave, long term disability insurance, and may include needs-based student loan assistance. About The Public Interest Network

The Public Interest Network operates and supports more than a dozen organizations – including PIRG, Environment America and their state affiliates – committed to a shared vision of a better world and a strategic approach to change.

Our work focuses on the problems that arise from America’s single-minded pursuit of endless economic growth: We’re still burning fossil fuels even though it’s changing the climate. We keep giving antibiotics to healthy livestock, even though it leads to “superbugs” that are antibiotic-resistant. We use plastic products for a few minutes only to throw them away so they pollute the oceans for centuries.

And our approach is unique: We focus on the big picture, but are relentlessly pragmatic and prioritize making a difference in people’s lives over making a statement. We work with everybody to make change happen, political ideology aside, championing good ideas wherever they come from. And we are serious about the work -- we set clear goals, benchmarks and systems to measure our progress, and hold ourselves accountable to making change now and building for the future.

This unique approach gives our staff an opportunity to make a concrete difference for the environment and the public interest — just as hundreds of dedicated staff have done over our 50 year history. If you want to add to this change-making legacy; if you have the passion and the drive that it takes; if you're looking for a mission, not just a job — then let’s talk.
