The California Water Efficiency Partnership is seeking a Training Coordinator to join its staff and help achieve its mission to maximize urban water efficiency in California. We are a small team with an outsized impact located in downtown Sacramento.

The California Water Efficiency Partnership (CalWEP) is an innovative leader, voice, and expert on water efficiency in California with over 220 members including water agencies, service providers, technology companies, manufacturers, and non-profits. CalWEP’s mission is to maximize urban water efficiency and conservation throughout California. We achieve this goal by:

  • Supporting and integrating innovative technologies and practices
  • Encouraging effective public policies
  • Advancing research, training, and public education
  • Building collaborative approaches and partnerships

What the job entails:

We are seeking a colleague ideally to join our downtown Sacramento-based team, though for the right candidate we are open to a hybrid on site/remote hire in California. We are ready to hire immediately. Reporting directly to CalWEP’s Co-Executive Directors and working closely with our entire team, the Training Coordinator will:

Manage key professional training programs, including:

  • The Qualified Water Efficient Landscaping (QWEL) classes, which includes managing contracts, scheduling trainings, coordinating logistics, conducting marketing and outreach, travel for moderation of in-person classes, and writing summary reports.
  • Virtual and in-person customer trainings on a variety of water use efficiency and conservation topics in partnership with water and energy providers. This includes scheduling trainings, coordinating logistics, conducting marketing and outreach, travel for moderation of in-person classes, and writing summary reports.
  • Assist CalWEP staff as needed in their four annual events for water conservation professionals across the state.

Engage with our growing and diverse statewide membership and contacts, including:

  • Provide as needed support to CalWEP’s members on a variety of topics
  • Engage with members and partners interested in using CalWEP for their training purposes.
  • Represent CalWEP at events across the state in person and virtually

Other duties as assigned. As a small but dynamic team, we are constantly adapting and responding to our members’ needs. The duties described above are provided as examples and are not to be considered as exclusive or all inclusive.

Who you are:

  • Passionate about education and training; knowledge in water conservation and efficiency is a plus but not required.
  • Possess critical thinking skills – can apply reason, evaluate information, come up with solutions, provide meaningful recommendations, etc.
  • A multi-tasker – have the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects  concurrently
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Enjoys working in a team environment and individually
  • Data savvy, comfortable with an array of digital tools
  • Communicative - willing to ask questions, express needs, be thoughtful, and engage in discussions with colleagues

Your Experience and Qualifications:

A strong candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Work experience in the field of education, training, or program management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as needed; self-motivated
  • Thrive in a deadline-driven work environment
  • Excellent project and time management, administrative skills, follow-through, flexibility, creativity, organization, and ability to prioritize tasks appropriately
  • Uphold high levels of accountability for self and for others
  • Work early mornings, evenings, and weekends when work schedule require flexibility
  • Ability to travel throughout the state of California via car, plane, public transportation, etc.
  • Follow multiple sets of instructions provided in a variety of forms, including written and oral
  • Passion for helping others to grow and learn
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Canva, Mailchimp, Dropbox, Basecamp, and Salesforce is preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to travel by car, plane, or other means to work sites throughout California.

Salary & Benefits:

$55,000 - $60,000 per year depending on experience. CalWEP offers a competitive benefits package including a generous 401k retirement plan, medical/dental coverage, and paid vacation, holiday and sick leave. This is an at-will, temporary position that is dependent on funding.
