****USE YOUR SCIENTIFIC EXPERIENCE TO IMPACT THE LIVES OF PATIENTS AND FAMILIES****

Are you a postdoctoral fellow or graduate student interested in a different path than wet bench lab work? Are you passionate about making a real impact on the lives of patients and their families? Are you looking for a flexible, part time opportunity that you can blend with your personal life?

In this newly created role, you would be the center of gravity driving research forward to find innovative treatments and cures for von Hippel Lindau (VHL).

The VHL Alliance (VHLA) is a patient-centric healthcare nonprofit committed to improving the quality of life and health outcomes for persons with VHL and their families. The VHL Community is in a stage of great advancement! Nobel Prize winning researchers, promising new drug therapies, and a nationwide network of 40 centers of excellence that offer energizing hope to individuals with VHL and their families. Learn more about our mission at www.vhl.org.

We are seeking a Program Manager for Research Initiatives who will serve in a part time capacity coordinating key VHLA research initiatives.

Promote, coordinate and support VHL research-related activities to include:

  • VHL Alliance Annual Research Grant Program - Advertise and solicit project applications and coordinate the administrative tasks to facilitate the review, scoring, and awarding of research grants.
  • VHL Alliance Research Council Activities - Support the co-chairs to assemble and communicate with members of the Research Council in order to develop research strategic objectives
  • VHL Research Event Support - Assume a lead role in the planning and execution of in person Research Events like the Medical Symposium and Early Career Research Forum.

Develop and manage programming that connects patients and families to ongoing research to include:

  • Research Blog Pilot to aggregate and disseminate the latest VHL-related research information
  • Managing Consumer Patient Advocates for Federal Research Funding programs like Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP)

What we offer:

  • An annual salary range of $40,000 - $50,000 for 20 flexible hours of productivity a week. Compensation will be based on experience. This is a 1- year term position with the opportunity to develop into a permanent role.

  • The opportunity to work alongside leading VHL medical experts, removing research stovepipes and fostering collaboration that will drive innovation, discovery, and new treatments.

  • Joining a fully remote team of authentically passionate nonprofit professionals who wake up every day striving to improve the lives of persons with VHL.

**Please note: This position does not offer medical or PTO benefits.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated program experience with a strong affinity for project management
  • Post graduate education in the medical or scientific field
  • Strong understanding of the scientific research process, preferably in the fields of molecular biology genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, physiology or computational biology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Term: July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025
