Who we are

The News Literacy Project (NLP), a national, nonpartisan education nonprofit, is seeking a Senior Manager of Education Partnerships, West to join our education engagement team. Founded in 2008, NLP is the leading provider of news literacy education for middle and high school students, primarily through its signature e-learning platform, Checkology® and weekly learning newsletter, the Sift®.

Where you fit in

NLP is poised to take on a greater national presence to meet the intense interest in its programs from school districts across the country while it works to build a national movement to advance the practice of news literacy throughout American education. To reach our objectives, NLP is rapidly expanding its capacity. This is a great opportunity for you to join an ambitious organization and support every aspect of its educator partnership growth efforts nationwide.

The ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of the following:

• Education experience as a classroom teacher and/or school and/or district leadership.

• Experience with e-learning tools, either in their development, user training or use in an instructional setting.

• Experience presenting to audiences with the goal of influencing decision-making.

• Some knowledge of, or experience with, district-level decision-making processes.

• Superior written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and data management acumen.

We’re looking for someone who is unafraid to collaborate with strategic district decision-makers and has the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Educator Engagement.

About the position

As a member of NLP’s educator engagement team, you will execute the organization’s district-level outreach plans and foster relationships with established district partners while expanding NLP awareness in the territory assigned. You will directly oversee communication, onboarding and implementation of the NLP partnership strategy, designed to expand and strengthen district partnerships.

The specific responsibilities for this position are:

• Manage assigned district relationships and develop new partnerships.

• Set a strategy for individual district partnerships based on districts’ implementation priorities.

• Track progress and share information to assist districts in achieving goals.

• Maintain partnerships database, tracking details and status of district and state-level partners.

• Prepare presentations and workshops for conferences and other training opportunities.

• Other educator engagement activities as assigned by the SVP.

About you

In addition to the qualifications noted above, the successful candidate will have all or most of the following:

• Bachelor's degree.

• A minimum of seven years of professional experience in a K-12 education setting.

• A demonstrated ability to lead virtual and in-person product demonstrations and trainings to both district leaders and classroom educators.

• Familiarity with a variety of learning resources, both digital and analog.

• Computer skills that include the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel).

• Experience and comfort with working in a virtual work environment (in terms of both technology tools and personal skills).

• Ability to do more with less, making the most of limited resources and staff capacity to achieve ambitious results.

• Ability to travel nationwide (up to 30% time during peak meeting season).

This is a U.S.-based remote position with travel required throughout the year to participate in staff retreats, conferences and district support. The partnership territory for this role is the western United States, with strong preference given to candidates who live in a large urban market west of the Mississippi River.
