Description
We are seeking a Site Manager (20-30 hours/week) who will be responsible for running play program sessions during weekday afternoons/evenings and guiding a team of junior staff and volunteers in providing superior service delivery. Site Managers deliver meaningful play opportunities designed to nurture social-emotional skills, creative problem solving, and a sense of optimism for small groups of children (ranging from preschool through teens).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Delivery:
- Implement the structure and flow of Playtime's play-based program model.
- Maintain the playroom's procedures and expectations with a focus on guided activities with intentional therapeutic and educational benefits as well as free play options.
- Provide on-site coaching, mentoring, and supervision to junior staff and volunteers to bolster their ability to help children learn and heal through play in a trauma-informed environment.
- Maintain good working relationship and regularly scheduled communication with site partners.
- Communicate pertinent information in a timely manner to the Program Manager/Director, such as personnel, volunteer, scheduling, safety, and participant related matters.
- Oversee Playtime program supply needs by determining curriculum supply needs, assessing playroom needs, coordinating with Playtime staff to ensure program supplies are stocked before they are needed.
- Work collaboratively with the Program team to plan and provide fun, creative, varied, and intentional, as well as culturally and developmentally appropriate, activities for children and youth.
- Support onboarding of new program staff and volunteers by providing training on Playtime’s curriculum and domains.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Oversee documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements (safety, child abuse reporting, and shelter procedures).
- Ensure compliance with requirements for weekly program service documentation, which includes collecting nightly outcome evaluation data for each child, attendance, surveys, registration forms, and incident reports. Must enter corresponding forms into Salesforce database weekly.
- Consistently document confidential information such as Critical Incident Reports within 24 hours of an incident, following a phone call to the Program Director.
- Must be able to produce or obtain an FBI and MPD clearance, negative TB test result, negative drug test, COVID vaccine, and other background checks as required. Playtime will cover the cost of any of these requirements.
Resources & Referrals
- Refer resource needs to Family Stability Manager to include educational advocacy, health and mental health, childcare, tutoring, summer, or other specialized programming necessary for healthy child and family development.
- Work in collaboration with Playtime’s Social Work department to ensure that families requesting additional support are offered a needs assessment by social work interns or staff.
- Support distribution from donation drives such as monthly play kits, seasonal holiday toys, coat drives, and other special initiatives as needed.
Organization Support
- Provide ongoing photos and stories that can be used in Playtime’s communications and fundraising efforts.
- Participate in occasional meeting with funders or host funder visits to the program sites as needed.
- Request volunteer special project assistance as needed (such as playroom cleanings or deliveries).
- Collaborate with Program Director to recommend, plan, and co-facilitate in-service trainings for staff and volunteers to ensure skills are fresh and relevant
- Lend your own experience and wisdom to help the organization effectively tell the story of its mission and programs.
Schedule and Location
- Programs generally take place from 4:000 - 8:00 p.m.
- Candidates should indicate their availability during weekdays and accessibility to be assigned to locations in DC and Prince George's county.
- This position can be full-time at 30 hours per week with benefits or part-time between 20-25 hours.
- Occasional office visits will be required for department and staff meetings. Our office is located in Columbia Heights, DC.
Compensation
$28-$32/hour with partial travel reimbursement. Schedule will be between 20-30 hours per week.
If hired at 30 hours (full-time), the selected candidate will be eligible for benefits to include 100% paid healthcare insurance, holidays, pro-rated paid time off, EAP plan, STD/LTD insurance and other benefits.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in child development, education, or related field preferred
- 2-5 years working in the youth service field serving children residing within a high-needs community or equivalent combination of education and experience expected.
- Experience working with homeless families, youth, or other marginalized populations.
- Experience with administrative tasks, project management and process management as well as working in a school or small, nonprofit setting ideal

- Reliable transportation to get to and from worksites on time
- Experience with MS Office software
- Experience with student/client database entry and compliance ideal
- Teaching background a plus
