Position Overview
Ruscombe seeks a Development & Program Manager to guide the next phase of our growth. This part-time role is ideal for an experienced, creative professional who enjoys designing programs and securing the resources to make them thrive.
As the organization’s sole development staff member, you will manage fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations while co-creating Ruscombe’s mission-aligned initiatives such as the Accessibility Fund and Culinary Medicine Program. Working closely with the Executive Director, Board, volunteers and our small staff, you’ll play a key role in connecting Ruscombe’s programs to community needs and funding opportunities. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Target start date: mid-December, with flexibility for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Development
- Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan supporting unrestricted funding, capital improvements, and programmatic growth, aiming toward an annual fundraising goal in the low-six-figure range.
- Identify, research, and pursue diverse funding sources — including government, corporate, and private foundations — and manage grants from submission through reporting.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors and sponsors; manage acknowledgments and ongoing communications.
- Develop sustaining donor and membership campaigns to build recurring support.
- Support fundraising visibility by keeping the Ruscombe website and promotional materials up to date with clear, inspiring information about funding priorities.
- Potential to engage and coordinate volunteer or intern support for grant research and development projects as the program grows.
Program Development & Coordination
- Design and grow Ruscombe’s mission-driven programs, including the Accessibility Fund and Culinary Medicine initiatives.
- Collaborate with marketing staff to align program storytelling and fundraising campaigns.
- Support periodic educational and community-building events.
- Contribute to long-term business and sustainability planning.
Community & Event Engagement
- Help organize and oversee Ruscombe’s annual Peace & Wellness Festival and other fundraising events, securing sponsors and coordinating with vendors and volunteers.
- Represent Ruscombe at community meetings and partnership gatherings to strengthen relationships and visibility.
Organizational Collaboration
- Work closely with staff and practitioners to align programming, outreach, and fundraising efforts.
- Help sustain Ruscombe’s earned income through practitioner occupancy and space promotion.
- Maintain accurate donor, grant, and program records.
- Provide regular progress updates to the Executive Director and Board.
Qualifications
- Proven success in nonprofit development, fundraising, and program management, including developing and implementing strategic plans.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Excellent writing, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strategic thinker and self-starter, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience with grant writing, donor databases, and nonprofit financial principles preferred.
- Understanding of event planning and digital or social media promotion a plus.
- Commitment to Ruscombe’s mission of holistic wellness, community healing, and sustainable growth.
Compensation & Schedule
- Part-time, approximately 15–20 hours per week.
- Hourly rate: $25–35/hour, commensurate with experience.
- Flexible schedule with occasional on-site meetings and events in Baltimore.
