Operations Manager

Position Summary
The Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the National Action Center runs smoothly, effectively, and in alignment with the mission of the National Organization for Women (NOW). This position oversees the organization’s core administrative, financial, and operational functions, working closely with senior leadership to ensure accountability, compliance, and long-term sustainability. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong organizational management skills, fiscal acumen, and a deep commitment to feminism, equity, and NOW’s advocacy priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Administrative Management
- Develop, draft, and monitor the organization’s annual budget in collaboration with leadership and CPA.
- Oversee preparation of monthly financial statements, annual audits, and fiscal reports for the President and Vice President.
- Ensure fiscal integrity and transparency, maintaining accurate documentation to meet audit and compliance requirements.
- Manage vendor contracts, agreements, and other organizational documents to safeguard the organization’s interests.
Operations & Compliance
- Oversee day-to-day administrative operations, including membership database, membership services, and records management.
- Provide consistent in-office support, including ordering supplies, managing mail and deliveries, assisting with outgoing shipments, and handling other general office management duties.
- Ensure the organization complies with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including charitable registrations.
- Implement policies, systems, and best practices to strengthen operational efficiency.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise staff, fostering an environment of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
- Support volunteer engagement and coordination, recognizing their role in advancing NOW’s mission.
- Serve as a key advisor to the President and Vice President on operational and financial matters.
- Provide input on strategic planning, ensuring resources and infrastructure align with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with the development team to support donor stewardship, fundraising initiatives, and organizational growth.
- Attend and contribute to board, development, and cross-departmental meetings as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in operations, finance, or nonprofit management.
- Demonstrated experience supporting senior- or executive-level leadership.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong supervisory skills, with experience managing staff and working with volunteers.
- CPA or MBA in business, finance, or accounting strongly preferred.
- Solid knowledge of nonprofit financial management, compliance, and audit preparation.
- Familiarity with database management and general computer systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to feminism, intersectional equity, and NOW’s mission and core issues.
- Experience working in a nonprofit membership-based organization strongly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $80,000 – $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
