Full-Time Afterschool STEM Head Teacher and Program Coordinator

Your Role in a Nutshell

As an Afterschool STEM Head Teacher (50% of time), you'll be at the heart of our mission. Your role includes:

• Delivering engaging, fun, hands-on STEM activities at local elementary schools in the afterschool or summer setting.
• Instilling the 6 C's: Curious, Committed, Confident, Careful, Creative, and Changemakers mindset in your students.
• Adapting teaching to suit individual student needs.
• Promoting social-emotional learning and embracing diversity.
• Supervising assistants and volunteers.
• Communicating with families to keep them in the loop
• Promote SAfG events among various stakeholders
• Fostering positive relationships with school administrators.
• Assisting with the assembly and transportation of STEM supplies
• Teaching at various East Bay locations from 2:00-5:30pm Monday-Friday during programming.

Other Programmatic Support (50%):

• Being a team player by attending meetings and supporting program-related projects.
• Support the facilitation of the successful execution of Family STEAM Nights by supporting program logistics to ensure a seamless and engaging educational experience for students and families.
• Support volunteer coordination efforts to support various aspects of the program, fostering a strong sense of community involvement and shared responsibility for the success of our programming.
• Support program-related events, STEM Kitting and marketing. 

What We're Looking For

You are the ideal candidate if you:

• Seeking a compassionate educator whose heart beats in sync with the joy of nurturing young minds, fostering an environment where kindness is woven into every lesson, and love is the language that inspires growth and learning.
• Hold a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Education or a STEM field.
• Have at least one year of teaching experience.
• Value educational equity and have experience working with underserved communities.
• Can connect with a wide range of students and create an inclusive environment.
• Are solution-oriented, energetic, and detail-oriented.
• Have experience in emergent curriculum, project-based, or inquiry-based learning (a plus).
• Possess a valid driver's license and a reliable car.
• Know Spanish (a plus, but not mandatory).
