Who We Are

AIM Youth Mental Health (“AIM”) is a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap between research and access to care for youth struggling with mental health challenges. Our mission is to find, fund, and implement evidence-based treatments, empower youth to discover their own mental health solutions, and train caring adults to create a safe environment for children, teens, and young adults. AIM is a 501(c)3 nonprofit incorporated in California. (www.AIMymh.org)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director (“ED”) to lead our organization, serving as the bridge between our Scientific Advisory Board, donors, and the communities we serve.

The ED will report to the Board of Directors, and has overall operational responsibility for AIM’s fundraising, awareness events, programs, and execution of its mission. The ED will develop a deep knowledge of the field, the community model, operations, business plan, and goals of AIM, to evolve the strategic vision for the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to advance the mission and objectives of AIM, ensuring alignment with the organization’s values and strategic goals.
  • Fundraising: Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure financial support for our research and programs. This includes cultivating and stewarding relationships with major donors, foundation partners, corporate sponsors, and other stakeholders.
  • Donor Relations: Serve as the primary liaison between AIM and its donors, effectively communicating the impact of our work and inspiring philanthropic support. Must be able to understand and articulate complex research findings in a compelling manner to engage donors.
  • Organizational Growth: Drive consistent and sustainable growth for the organization, expanding our reach and impact. Travel to meet with donors as needed.
  • Programs Development and Management: Oversee the development, delivery and quality of AIM’s programs and services. Ensure programs are responsive to needs and aligned with AIM’s strategic goals.
  • Communication: Act as a brilliant storyteller and communicator, effectively conveying our mission, vision, and impact to diverse audiences through various channels, including public speaking engagements, media appearances, and written communications.
  • Operations: Ensure the organization runs smoothly and efficiently, with effective systems in place for human resources, technology, and financial management. Oversee staff recruitment, training, development, and retention strategies to build a high performing team.
  • Board Management: Provide leadership to and maintain strong relationships with the Board of Directors, by providing support, communication and reports that allow the board to effectively carry out its fiduciary role. In partnership with the Board of Directors, develop and manage a meaningful, multi-year strategic plan. Engage and help Board of Directors to identify, help recruit and orient new board members whose talents, interests and commitment will help further the organization's mission, values, and goals.
  • Financial Management: Oversee the financial health and sustainability of AIM, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources and compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in senior leadership roles within the nonprofit sector, with a proven track record of success in fundraising and organizational growth.
  • Experience managing a non-profit staff team and board of directors, demonstrating strong interpersonal and team-building skills.
  • Capacity for deep understanding of mental health research and evidence-based interventions, with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into accessible language for diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to develop and nurture relationships with major donors, foundation partners, and corporate grantmakers, resulting in significant financial support for organizational priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to inspire and engage others through compelling storytelling and advocacy.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, evidence-based research, communications, etc.) preferred.

This is a tremendous opportunity for a passionate person who loves to network and wants to be part of an organization that is growing rapidly in an area that is gaining more attention every day. Join us in our mission to empower youth and transform mental health care. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of young people and their families.
