Arts Administrator (PT adjustable to FT)

Founded in 2003 Mencius Society for the Arts is devoted to promoting equity and social justice through genuine and lifelong engagement in the arts. Recently relocated to the Lower Eastside and now part of the Grand St. Settlement Essex Crossing Community Center, Mencius provides a variety of language-specific musical and cultural arts programs serving participants of all walks and ages.

Arts Administrator (Part-time)

Mencius seeks a high energy arts admin to oversee the day-to-day operation and programmatic delivery of our services. The ideal candidate will work 4 half-days per week, Thursday and Friday 2:00-6:30 pm; and Saturday and Sunday 1:00-6:00 pm. This position is offered as part time (23 hours, including 2-3 hours remote) and adjustable to a full time appointment with benefits. Applicants who are international students may be considered for H1-B/Q1 sponsorship.

The ideal candidate should be bi-literate (Cantonese and/or Mandarin perfered), and with some experience in non-profit arts administration, social work. Candidates with a background in the arts or social social sciences are preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Planning, organization, and communication to ensure the smooth running of programmed activities
• Maintaining accounts payable/receivable and processing transactions (receipts/purchase orders)
• Processing backend documents related to grant reporting and compliance and other matters of facility maintenance
• Working with the executive director to implement enrollment/membership campaigns, promotional events, and contract service performances
• Supervision and support of interns, junior staffers, and contract vendors (teaching artists)
