    SCHEDULE: Full-time (Variable Schedule), Monday–Friday, Onsite

    COMPENSATION: $45,000 - $50,000, Non-Exempt (Overtime Eligible)

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Under the supervision of the Directors of Operations for MPS Digital Photography and MPS Fashion Photography, the Studio Manager oversees the daily operations of the departments’ studios, equipment, and printing spaces. This includes managing studio facilities, maintaining and loaning equipment, assisting students and faculty, and supporting administrative and social media activities.

    The Studio Manager works closely with both Departments’ Chairs and Directors of Operations and engages regularly with students, faculty, and staff across the College.

    DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

    The Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Digital Photography department is an intensive one-year degree program that seamlessly blends the most current technical and aesthetic aspects of contemporary image-making. The program meets the needs of professional photographers, photographic educators, and visual artists who want to advance their skills in digital image capture, image processing, and high-quality output to remain competitive in a variety of image-making fields and professions.

    The MPS Fashion Photography program is a rigorous one-year intensive program for the technologically proficient photographer who wants to develop a more creative and original body of work through an immersion in the narrative, conceptual, and cultural subtext of fashion photography, and with direct engagement with leading figures in fashion and fashion photography in New York City.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Studio Management

    • Manage and maintain studio spaces, photography backdrops, and equipment inventory.
    • Schedule and oversee studio and workspace use, including student reservations.
    • Assist students and faculty with equipment setup and troubleshooting.
    • Ensure equipment and workspaces are safe, clean, and fully operational.
    • Support events, exhibitions, and departmental projects as needed.

    Administrative Support

    • Support the Chairs and Directors of Operations of both departments in managing department administration, calendars, digital assets, and promotional activities
    • Assemble recruitment materials and support in-person and virtual recruitment events.
    • Communicate departmental updates and reminders to students and faculty.
    • Order and manage general office and studio supplies.
    • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

    Social Media and Event Management

    • Develop and manage social media content for departmental channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Vimeo, YouTube).
    • Maintain a consistent posting schedule and track engagement analytics.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Operations to create and execute content strategies.
    • Coordinate with SVA Communications to maintain event pages on the College website.
    • Support all aspects of event logistics, including setup, signage, registration, and breakdown.
    • Assist with exhibitions (2–3 times per year), including artwork transport, installation, and handling.
    • Print materials using inkjet and laser printers.
    • Photograph and film department events as needed.
    • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • At least one (1) year of administrative experience.
    • At least one (1) year of photography or video experience.
    • Experience managing social media accounts (Instagram required).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
    • Working knowledge of Adobe applications: Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Illustrator, and InDesign.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in photography, film, or a related field.
    • Experience with graphic design and printing.
    • Familiarity with additional social media platforms, including Meta Business Suite, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Vimeo, YouTube, and Linktree.
    • Experience creating and editing video content using Adobe Express or Premiere.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Knowledge of best practices and procedures related to photography
    • Knowledge of professional photography, including proficiency with relevant software like Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Illustrator, and InDesign.
    • Knowledge of the unique requirements of photography shoots, including studio and location scouting, lighting design, talent management, and post-production for both still and video content
    • Skill in managing an inventory of camera equipment and other essential studio equipment, including tracking and maintenance protocols.
    • Skill of contemporary trends of digital and fashion photography, including social media, multimedia, and digital transformation within the visual arts.
    • Skill in verbal, written, and interpersonal communications, effectively interacting with students, other staff, faculty, and stakeholders.
    • Skill in problem-solving and with attention to detail
    • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities across different departments.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences/populations.
    • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with a diverse student population and the ability to foster an inclusive environment.
    • Ability to work well with others and foster a supportive environment for students, faculty, and staff.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Variable full-time work schedule (35 hrs per week) Non-exempt, hourly (overtime) - may be required to work additional hours outside of the regular work schedule.
    • Departments are located at 132 West 21st Street, New York, NY, 10011.
    • Schedule may vary based on departmental needs; occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays required for events. Willingness to work outside designated office hours as needed for events.
    • This is a fully onsite position, requiring in-person attendance at our designated work locations. Remote work is not permitted for this role.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and climbing ladders.
    • Flexibility to adjust to changing departmental needs and priorities.
