    Job Summary:

    NAF is seeking a service-oriented, strategically minded Director, Technology Operations to lead enterprise IT functions, manage vendor relationships, and ensure operational excellence across a dynamic, distributed workforce. This role will work in close partnership with the Senior Director, Data and Systems to align infrastructure, compliance, and helpdesk operations with NAF’s mission and growth trajectory.

    The ideal candidate is a systems thinker who is excited about a mission-driven nonprofit setting and has strong experience in vendor oversight, governance, and compliance. The Director will work closely with the DevOps Engineers and VP, Research and Technology to determine priorities and ensure our enterprise systems are secure, scalable, and aligned with our Core Values. This role initially includes mentorship under team leadership and, as NAF scales, the Director, Technology Operations is expected to play a key role related to governance, infrastructure, and enterprise resilience.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Infrastructure & Operations

    • Oversee enterprise systems including Microsoft 365, Azure, Okta, and Google Workspace
    • Manage device lifecycle, onboarding/offboarding, and ticketing SLAs via MSP
    • Lead incident response and escalation protocols in partnership with AVP Engineering

    Vendor & Contractor Management

    • Serve as primary administrator for all enterprise technology contracts, including MSP
    • Negotiate renewals, evaluate new vendors, and ensure alignment with budget and strategic goals
    • Coordinate external software training and support contractors as needed

    Governance & Compliance

    • Own SOC 2 compliance program, including documentation, audits, and control maintenance
    • Ensure FERPA-aligned practices across systems and staff workflows
    • Launch and facilitate a cross-functional technology governance group

    Strategic Collaboration

    • Partner with Senior Director, Data and Systems to align DevOps and TechOps priorities
    • Provide monthly summaries, risk assessments, and incident tracking to VP, Research and Technology
    • Co-develop annual enterprise technology budget and roadmap

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

    • Maintain SOC 2 compliance with zero audit exceptions
    • Reduce staff downtime and increase virtual workforce self-sufficiency
    • Improve budget efficiency through vendor optimization and governance

    Preferred Experience:

    • Must be located in Eastern or Central US Time Zones
    • 7+ years in IT operations, infrastructure, or systems administration
    • Experience managing MSPs and enterprise vendors in a nonprofit or mission-driven context
    • Strong familiarity with Azure, Intune, Okta, Salesforce (or other CRM platforms), Asana, and Microsoft/Google Suite tools.
    • Demonstrated success in compliance frameworks (SOC 2, FERPA preferred)
    • Exceptional communication and service orientation with internal stakeholders
    • Ability to work independently, advise executive leadership, and lead cross-functional initiatives

    Salary:

    $122,500.00
