Job Description – Midstate COSH Program Director/Health & Safety Instructor/Fundraiser
- Grant management – quarterly and final report writing, financials recordkeeping, create and maintain grant spreadsheets allocating all MCOSH expenses.
- Prepare, approve, and submit timesheets for staff working on programs being managed.
- Advertise and hire workers, in collaboration with the Board, for programs being managed.
- Be able to provide training on core program modules, including training for trainers.
- Grant writing and fundraising to ensure maintenance of MCOSH programming and finances.
- Work with Outreach Director and Youth Coordinator to initiate and facilitate outreach to current and prospective training partners.
- Works under the authority of the MCOSH Board and will interact periodically, as needed, with the Board Chair.
- Updating MCOSH newsletter/fundraising/contact database.
Oversee Teens Lead @ Work program, in coordination with Youth Coordinator.
- Mentoring of Peer Leaders.
- Coordinate and facilitate Peer Leaders’ meetings and curriculum development.
- Organize training to be led by Peer Leaders.
- Participate with and/or lead training teams, as needed.
- Prepare for and lead training of new Peer Leaders.
- Prepare for and lead training of current Peer Leaders in new training modules.
- Continue to develop training skills and modules, as needed.
- Co-facilitate bi-weekly staff meetings with Outreach Director.
- Organize Worker Memorial Day events, maintain awareness of area workplace fatalities
- Maintain outreach and relationships with area union locals, regions and district councils
- Support Farmworker Union organizing efforts in New York State.
- Report to MESF Board at quarterly meetings.
- Facilitate communication with Nat’l COSH and participate in all Nat’l COSH conference calls and the annual conference. These and other work-related programs may require overnight travel.
- Be prepared to speak publicly on behalf of MCOSH.
- Manage the website and Facebook page, in coordination with Outreach Director.
- Maintain office space and coordinate with Bookkeeper, Treasurer, office partners and building manager.
- Assist in maintaining COVID-19 and other safety protocols in the office and with in-person training.
This is a union position with the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades. It is a full-time position (40 hours) with the possibility of working fewer hours. The wage scale is based on experience with the current top rate of $29.95/hour. The position includes benefits of payments into the union pension, annuity and other union funds, currently of $6.55/hour. The position includes the eligibility to purchase from the union’s health insurance plans.
