    Salary Range: $6,673.33 - $9,210.93, monthly

    Job Summary

    The Annual Giving Officer is an integral member of the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation team, responsible for the planning, execution, and optimization of the Foundation’s annual campaigns and events with the goal of increasing donor participation and contributions in alignment with the Foundation’s strategic plan and long-term financial growth.

    As the fundraising partner of Sno-Isle Libraries, the mission of the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation is to mobilize people and resources to expand the reach of library services, promote civic engagement, and foster a lifetime of learning. The Foundation is a separate 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization governed by its own Board of Directors. It secures philanthropic support from the community and advocates in support of the library.     The Annual Giving Officer is a new position joining the Foundation at an exciting time of transformation and growth. This role works closely with the Foundation Executive Director on growing philanthropic revenue from individual donors and successfully executing Foundation events. The successful candidate is a self-motivated, collaborative, and creative fundraising generalist with expertise in campaign planning, event management, and donor engagement, impeccable writing and communication skills, and a passion for public libraries. This position requires some evening and weekend hours.

    This position is eligible for hybrid work (onsite and remote), compliant with Sno-Isle Libraries’ remote work policies and subject to the approval of the position’s supervisor. Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to report to their Sno-Isle Libraries worksite in person as needed.

    This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by AFSCME Council 2.

    Essential Functions

    Functions listed are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.

    1. In partnership with the Foundation Executive Director and Foundation Team, manage a robust annual fund plan and develop strategies to increase individual donor engagement and contributions and ensure the continued growth of campaign revenue in alignment with the Foundation’s budget and strategic goals.
    2. With a deep understanding of donor behavior, giving trends, and persuasive messaging, design and coordinate all annual giving campaigns, including donor acquisitions and renewals, existing and new appeals, and a monthly giving program. Manage multi-channel appeals, including direct mail, email, and digital, campaign themes, messaging, communication methods, and timelines.
    3. Analyze and segment donor data to inform messaging and campaign planning.
    4. Build and maintain a donor engagement and stewardship program, ensuring effective donor recognition and benefits fulfillment.
    5. Maintain and grow a sustainable pipeline of prospective donors through strategic outreach and cultivation.
    6. Serve as the Foundation’s events lead, including the conceptualization, planning, execution, and sponsorships of author salons, the annual Trudy Sundberg Lecture Series, and develop new donor and community events to help raise awareness of the work of the Foundation.
    7. Support of the Foundation’s marketing and communications efforts, including online presence, website, and social media engagement.

    Additional Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Support existing and new Foundation fundraising campaigns, activities, and projects.
    2. Champion and represent the Foundation at community events and functions.
    3. Attend and actively participate in Foundation committees.
    4. Partner with relevant Library staff to ensure cross-departmental alignment.
    5. Attend interdepartmental meetings, trainings, and workshops to support learning and development.
    6. Train new staff and volunteers as needed.
    7. Perform other duties as required.

    Supervision

    This position reports to the Foundation Executive Director. Supervision is not a regular part of this position.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    1. Excellent written, communications, analytical, and research skills.
    2. Proven track record in successful event planning and management.
    3. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with donors, board members, community partners, coworkers, volunteers, and the community-at-large.
    4. Thorough knowledge of established nonprofit and fundraising practices and procedures.
    5. Thorough knowledge of donor Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) software and maintenance.
    6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information.
    7. Ability to uphold the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace and the community.
    8. Ability to work independently and to set priorities in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
    9. Ability to apply project management principles to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail.
    10. Ability to solve problems and respond in a calm and reasonable manner in all situations.
    11. Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, correspondence, and memos; ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding and minimize misunderstandings.
    12. Ability to remain flexible and be comfortable working in a dynamic environment that may involve ambiguity and politically sensitive issues.
    13. Ability to work under stress with distractions and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
    14. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
    15. Working knowledge of WordPress, Canva, Photoshop, or similar platforms, and willingness to learn other platforms and software as needed.

    Education and Experience

    Knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position can be acquired by a combination of experience and education including:

    1. Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, business, or equivalent work experience.
    2. Three or more years of experience in fundraising or nonprofit development, including donor relations and stewardship.
    3. Two or more years of experience in planning and executing complex events that involve multiple dimensions and stakeholders.
    4. Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position will be considered.

    Most of the work is carried out within a generally accessible, safe, indoor environment. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is required to operate computers for extended periods of time. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move objects or materials weighing up to 35 pounds.

    The incumbent must regularly communicate with coworkers and members of the public. These contacts and situations are deemed to be generally safe and free of undue stress, but require incumbents to be cordial, helpful, and skilled in interpersonal relations with others both in the public and within the Library District.

    Incumbents may travel to various sites in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions. To accomplish this travel, the incumbent must be able to drive and hold a valid Washington State driver's license or to make independent arrangements for such transportation.
